As this amazing campaign draws to a close, I want to thank you for your tremendous support! Many of you gave of your time and resources by providing volunteer help and financial donations. I am so grateful to each and every one of you! Your encouragement and hope for a better future for our county were a daily inspiration to me.
We have been commended for running a fair and honorable campaign and we believe our message to reform county government was the right message. By continually articulating the important issues facing the county, we have already changed the dynamic of government. The new Executive is adopting our themes of reform, economic recovery, fiscal discipline and customer service. You can be proud that our focus on these issues for the last six months is driving a new accountability in county government!
My friend, John Glenn, astronaut and long-time US Senator, called me to say he lost his first election—even with superior name recognition!—but decided to stay the path and eventually served 24 years in the Senate. He said we must have good people run for office in this country, and of course, we all agree.
